ABCD can support Child Care Providers in a variety of ways. We can:

  • Help child care providers and their staff understand the importance of standardized developmental screening and appropriate referral processes.
  • Provide training on what to do and how to organize and launch a standardized developmental screening program in their centers.
  • Offer training on developmental milestones, the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, the Ages and Stages Questionnaire: Social Emotional, and appropriate local referral processes.
  • Facilitate and strengthen relationships between child care centers, health care partners, referral partners and other community stakeholders.

“ASQ and ASQ:SE have been a very useful tool to our parents and our teachers. After initially screening all the students, we are using screening as part of our enrollment package. This has proven useful to our teachers in knowing more about the level of development of each child and the parents have been interested to know what they can do at home to help their child as well.” – Childcare Provider, Arapahoe County

“For many parents, we are not usually up to speed on where our children should be developmentally. Some of us are none the wiser when our young toddlers have yet to talk, or walk, unaware of a possible developmental issues. Others of us, stress out about our child’s abilities and worry if they do not do the things that other children are doing at a certain age. However, after working with the ASQ, I feel more confident in where my children are on the developmental scale. Even as a caregiver professional, I believe that the ASQ is a tool that helps us know what to look for. It allows us to be more informative and knowledgeable when speaking with parents about where their child is developmentally or even to help ease some of their concerns and answer some of their questions. The whole experience has been helpful and insightful.” – Childcare Provider, Arapahoe County
