Child Find is the program component of the Individual with Disabilities Eduation Act (IDEA) thta requires school districts to locate, identify and evaluate all children from birth to twenty-one years of age, who may have a disability and are eligibly for early intervention services under either Part C (children from birth up until their third birthday) and special education or related services (ages 3 - 21).

Child Find is referred to in both Parts C and B of IDEA, and means the methods and procedures used to indentify and locate infants, toddlers and preschoolers who currently or potentially are in need of Part C early intervention or Part B preschool special education (as well as for children who are already attending school through age 21). In Colorado, 2007 legistlatin defines how the Part C and the Part B systems will collaborate to carry out the requirement for children from birth up until their third birthday.
